"I can't believe this, Liz! It's just so cool!" Jenna gushed, eyes alight and mouth wide open in a surprised smile as she once again followed her best friend into her office.

"No it's not," Liz insisted, taking a seat behind her desk and opening her laptop, trying not to look at the sparkle on her left hand. "It's really, really not."

But Jenna's excitement could not be contained. "You're going to be Mrs. Jack Donaghy. Elizabeth Donaghy!" She gasped. "Oh my God, Liz, that sounds so pretty! It is so meant to be!"

"Again, Jenna -- no, it's not." She shook her head and shifted some papers around on her desk, catching sight of the ring for only a moment before she forced her eyes away. "And besides, the way I see it? I just have to go along with this until he gets his precious microwave division back. Then, we can get a quickie annulment, and I can work on getting Floyd back!" She smiled, highly proud of herself for coming up with such a logical, well-thought-out plan.

"So Floyd broke up with you?"

Liz inclined her head and stared at her friend in disbelief. "Gee, you think? He asks me out for a weekend getaway and I tell him I'm getting married. What guy wouldn't dump a girl for that?"

Jenna shrugged. "Maybe a desperate one."

"Yeah, well... Floyd's not desperate. So it's over."

"Oh Liz, I'm so sorry," Jenna pouted, then with a blink she immediately brightened and went over to lean on the desk. "So when do you get to start spending Jack's money?"

She made a face. "What?"

A knock at the door diverted their attention, and Jack came in with a smile. "There you are. Liz, darling, I've--"

"Ugh," Liz shook her head emphatically and held up a hand as if to halt any more terms of endearment from his mouth. "Jack, really, you don't - you don't have to do that. You can just keep calling me Lemon."

Jack nodded in understanding. "Ah. Very well." He began again. "Lemon, darling, I've taken the liberty of choosing a dress for you to wear on Saturday."

Liz glimpsed quick at Jenna, whose eyes were about to pop out of her head with glee, before turning back to Jack. "You picked out a dress for me?"

"Well, yes. All I needed was your size -- four, right? -- and a good idea of what to look for." He snapped his fingers and Jonathan came in with a garment bag and a box of shoes. He gestured to the garment bag, which Jonathan unzipped for him. "I decided to go with something much like the clothing you've been wearing lately -- the empire-waisted dresses? They suit your figure, Lemon."

"Oh." She frowned, taken aback by the sudden compliment. Where was the Jack Donaghy she was accustomed to? "Um... thanks, Jack."

"They make you look far less mannish."

She pressed her lips together and nodded, once. There he was. "Okay."

He pointed to Jenna. "Jenna, you'll be there on Saturday, correct?"

Jenna feigned innocence. "Saturday? I, um... I don't know. What's happening on Saturday?"

He gave her a look. "Don't try to play the dumb blonde, Jenna; that's a hat you wear far too often. I'm sure Liz has told you the news, that she and I are getting married on Saturday, and we'll need witnesses." He crooked his head in his assistant's direction. "Jonathan will be there, now we'll need someone to stand up for Liz. What do you say?"

Jenna nodded enthusiastically. "I'll be there." Then, she held up a finger in question. "But wait, can I pick out my own dress?"

"You can. And Lemon..." He took the shoebox from Jonathan and passed it across the desk to her. "I had to guess your shoe size -- I went with seven-and-a-half -- and I hope these won't be too... feminine... for you."

She glared...

"At any rate, these should work, hopefully. We want to do this right, Lemon." He smiled. "After all, this may be the only wedding you get to have."

Her glare practically turned to a sneer as she came back with, "Which is more than we can say for you."

"Ha!" He grinned and shook his finger at her. "That sarcasm of yours is becoming borderline adorable." He laid the unzipped garment bag over the back of the chair across from her desk and headed for the door. "I'll be in a meeting for the next hour, but drop by later and let me know how everything fits," he called on his way out, and Jonathan followed on his heels like an eager puppy, the door slamming behind them.

Jenna, with bright eyes, got up and practically dove for the garment bag. "I can't take it anymore, I have to see what he got you!"

Liz sighed, shoulders slumping as if the weight of all of this was just catching up with her. "It's a dress, Jenna, how exciting could it be?"

"Correction, Liz, it's a wedding dress... your wedding dress, and I want to see how well Jack knows you!" She took it out of the bag and held it up, gasping. "Oh wow, Liz, it's... it's perfect."

Liz, against her better judgment, got up to look at the dress and was also taken aback by how quietly exquisite it was. "Oh, that's... that's not too bad."

It was a simple creme satin gown, empire-waisted just as Jack had said, strapless with a low back. The bust of the dress was embroidered with intricate creme flowers and vines, and it was really rather pretty, Liz had to admit. You know, for just a dumb old wedding dress. For her wedding. To Jack Donaghy. She felt like she was in the Twilight Zone. Maybe she needed to lie down. Or have some alcohol.

Lots of alcohol.

"Wow, he is good," Jenna proclaimed, nodding approvingly at the dress. She handed it to Liz and reached for the shoebox. "Now let's check out the shoes."

They, too, were quietly elegant. They were low-heeled strappy creme-colored shoes, with a few flowers adorning the straps. It coordinated well with the dress. Liz had to raise her eyebrows in appreciation. He certainly had a weird knack for women's fashion.

"Whoa, does he know you or what? This whole outfit is, like... perfect for you!"

Liz made a face. "Really? You think?"

"Oh, absolutely!" Then, teasingly, she added in a sing-song tone, "Jack must pay reeeeaaaalllly close attention to you to pick out something this perfect."

Liz just rolled her eyes. "Okay, I think I've had just about enough of this for today. I need to get some work done, now." She practically wrenched the shoes out of her best friend's hands before grabbing her by the shoulders and steering her toward the door. "Goodbye, Jenna."

"Wait, Liz!" Jenna grabbed hold of the door frame and pushed back, resisting being thrown out. She spun around and told Liz, "You have to try it on!"

"What?"

"The dress! Try it on!" She templed her hands together and whined, "Oh pleeeeeaase? Please, Liz? Just try it on for five minutes!"

Liz sighed, still holding the dress. She threw it a look of disdain. "If I try it on for five minutes you have to promise to leave me alone for the rest of the day."

Jenna nodded emphatically, holding up two of her fingers -- the peace symbol -- as she promised, "Scout's honor."

"Ugh." Liz had neither the time nor the energy to remind Jenna that she was neither honorable, nor was she ever a scout. Instead, she flung the dress over her shoulder and headed for wardrobe.

Another supurbly awesome chapter! I absolutely adore this story! You've got the characters down so well, and I love how Jack is so excited about the wedding. Love it! Can't wait to read more!

Aww, thank you so much! I was seriously so jittery when I first started writing this fic, because starting a new pairing, writing-wise, is kinda scary. I always worry about the characterization. It means a lot to know I'm keeping most everything in line with the characters :D

(Also? I HAD to make Jack super excited about the wedding. I kept thinking about how excited he was over the panda video and how adorable that was. Hehehe. Oh, Jack.)

I was giggly all throughout this chapter. And I love that Jenna's so excited. (And "when are you going to start spending Jack's money?" seems exactly like something she'd say.)

*giggle* Thanks muchly!

Jenna is such a blast to write, and in my opinion she's one of the biggest Jack/Liz shippers out there just because of her excitement about their "date" in "Black Tie." hehehehe.

"I'd have a three-way with two Jacks."

"You need to cool it."
HAHAHA. Sorry, had to quote that. One of the best Jenna/Liz exchanges ever.

I love you. This is awesome and somehow completely believable. "Lemon darling" and "borderline adorable" will stick in my head :-)... and him picking out something she'll look beautiful in is just...swoon-worthy...thank U!

Why are you so awesome?? So, the list:

Lemon, darling vs. Liz, darling (that was great and where can I buy sweet Jack??)

"They make you look far less mannish." (I can practically hear him saying this...)

Have some alcohol. Lots of alcohol. (made me laugh!!)

Jonathan followed on his heels like an eager puppy (I love Jonathan)

So this story is wonderful. Jack is sooo cute and Jenna......is Jenna. You really have a gift for writing Jack/Liz.
